What We Are Called Out For
Most of our calls come from the same few problems. A torsion spring snaps on a cold morning and the door won't budge, or an opener runs but the door doesn't move because a cable has jumped the drum. We see a lot of worn rollers and bent track on houses from the 1960s and 70s, which still make up a big share of the stock in this area - a lot of those doors are on original hardware nobody has serviced in years.
We work on broken springs, cables, rollers, tracks, panels, and openers. We also handle full door replacement when a repair isn't worth it anymore - if the door is original to a house built in the 1945-1994 window and the track or hardware is shot on top of the broken spring, patching it can cost more over time than putting in a new door.
What we don't do: we're not set up for commercial overhead doors or gate systems. If that's what you've got, we'll tell you that on the phone instead of wasting your afternoon.
One honest limitation: some opener parts and specific panel colors are special order, and if yours is one of them, the job may take more than one visit.

Where We Work
We're based at 1350 E Lake Lansing Rd in East Lansing and work throughout the surrounding area, including Haslett and Okemos about 4 miles out, Waverly and Holt around 8 miles, and DeWitt also about 8 miles. We'll travel farther for the right job - Williamston and Dimondale are around 11 miles, Mason and Laingsburg about 12, and we've gone as far as Eaton Rapids, St. Johns, and Grand Ledge for customers who called ahead.
Housing in this part of the state runs mostly 1945 to 1994, with a median build year around 1976, and that's true whether you're close to East Lansing proper or out toward one of the smaller towns on this list. Winters here are cold enough that we see spring failures spike with the first hard freeze, regardless of which town the house sits in.
If your town isn't listed above, call anyway - the list covers the areas we go to most, not a hard boundary.

Frequently asked
Straight answers about garage door repair in East Lansing. Still unsure? Ask us directly.
Why did my spring break in the middle of winter?
Cold makes steel more brittle, and a torsion spring near the end of its cycle life is already weak. In this climate band, classified as cold and severe, that combination is common - a spring that would have lasted another season in milder weather lets go here instead.
My house is from the 1960s - is my door original?
A lot of houses in this area, where the median build year is around 1976, still have torsion hardware from that period even if the door panel's been replaced once. We check the spring size and track width against what was standard for the era before quoting a fix.
Do you come out to Okemos or Haslett?
Yes, both are close - Okemos is about three miles east-southeast and Haslett around four miles out. They're regular stops along with the other communities within roughly twenty miles.
How do I know if I need a new door or just a repair?
If the frame and track are square and the panels aren't rusted through, a spring, cable, or roller job usually makes more sense than replacement. We'll tell you directly if the door's hardware is too far gone to justify the repair cost.
